Robert Anthonyson

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Bob Anthonyson has enjoyed an over fifty-year career in the fields of technology and real estate. He often served as an entrepreneur in many of his endeavors and they often provided highly innovative solutions for the problems that they addressed.

Bob started his career by co-founding Dynamics Associates, a firm which pioneered decision support software. It ran on time-shared, IBM computers and preceded the general availability of personal computers by ten years. This enabled corporate decision makers to perform their own analyses without having to wait for their internal IT departments to develop special programs. The value of this approach was recognized by Chase Bank and led them to acquire Dynamics as a strategic investment.

Bob then project-managed the development of the $80 million Post Office Square Park and Garage. The project used cutting-edge technology to build a 1,400 car underground garage topped by a two acre street-level park in the midst of Boston’s densely developed financial district. The seven-story underground garage was considered “the deepest hole in Boston” at the time. The public-private partnership received over two dozen awards for innovations in engineering, design, marketing, revenue collection, and other disciplines. Bob also received MIT’s Spaulding Award for his role in this project.

Bob later founded AVID Systems which developed a computer-based system for parking and other drive-thru applications by utilizing off-the-shelf toll road transponders. Drivers enjoyed enhanced speed, safety, and overall convenience by being able to leave their windows closed, except for fast-food pickups. He received three US Patents for this system. AVID was subsequently acquired by Amtech Corp (now Honeywell), the industry leader in vehicular and railcar transponders.

Throughout his career, Bob has also served on numerous profit and not-for-profit boards. He earned BS and MS degrees from MIT and an MBA from Stanford.
